Paragliding, Hanggliding, Paramotor Flying

In cooperation with the German paragliding school Dreyeckland, Larger Than Life offers paragliding, paramotor and hanggliding courses. These courses take place in the Black Forest area near Freiburg, Germany, the French Vosges and the Austrian Alpes, and run according to the educational standards of the German DHV and the Austrian ÖAeC.

You can book a course individually or with a group. For groups (min. 7 participants) a special course can be planned under guidance of a Larger Than Life instructor, who can also help with translation. Transport and accommodation can be arranged in consultation. You can stay in a pension, gästhaus, holiday cabin, or on a camping site near the flight school.

Starters' Course Paragliding

On your first day you will get acquainted with the paragliding equipment. After the necessary surface excercises in raising and guiding the glider, your feet will leave the ground! Then flights will follow with ascending height difference, up to 100 meters difference between starting and landing site. The target of the Starters' Course is for all participants to be able to start, fly curves and land the glider independantly - without guidance.

The Starter's Course lasts 5 days, during which a minimum of 20 flights between 40 and 100 meters of height difference will be made for the L-certificate - from early in the morning till evening (with a lunch break of usually a couple of hours). The theory part of the course (meteorology, aerodynamics and equipment knowledge, legislation and flight technique) is mainly aimed at the practical side of paragliding. The L-certificate allows access to the Licence A Paragliding Course.

Use of equipment is inclusive in the Starters' Course: a modern paraglider, harness, helmet and protector. You need to bring tall, sturdy mountaineering boots protecting your ankles.

Conditions for participating in a paragliding course:

- Minimum age: 14. Underaged persons need to be accompanied by an adult participant;

- Normal health condition. The fitter, the better! No doctor's statement necessary.

Licence A Paragliding Course

The target of this course is to fly a paraglider as an independant pilot, in flight areas where you do not require a B-Licence. The A-course consists of a theoretical and a practical part. At the end of a course a practical and theoretical exam will take place.

More-than-average skills in the use of the German language is required for learning the theory and passing the exam. The great advantage of Dreyeckland compared to Dutch flight schools lies in the knowledge and experience of the local instructors concerning flying a paraglider in the mountains.

Furthermore, the good atmosphere and the beautiful environment make this A-course an absolutely unforgettable adventure.
